Leona lives and practices her art on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
Being immersed in making art and in art education since childhood, Leona has had many years of study and application, inspiration being found in art history and the constantly changing world of nature…the seasons, the weather and the time of day and night.
For several years Leona reduced her working palette dramatically to explore the limits of black, white and shades of grey. Following this shift she moved from canvas to paper and explored her captivation with sumi ink painting techniques simultaneously applying these images both to canvas and then later to printmaking plates. Created carborundum collagraphs and drypoint prints resulted in much loved west coast Canadian landscapes crafted in an interpretative Asian ink painting style.
2024 brought new challenges of creating reduction lino prints and gradually adding limited palettes of colour.
2025 continues on with colour added to collagraps and drypoint plates. Every year brings a new and exciting focus to the love of experimentation and making art.
Leona's works are found in private and corporate collections in North America, China, South America, Norway and Australia.
