Leona lives and practices her art on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

Being immersed in making art and art education since childhood, Leona has had many years of study and application, inspiration being found in art history: inspiration fed by a formalist conceptualization of the elements, principles and theories of art making, colour theory, abstraction, composition and the study of painters and paintings particularly in the Modern Era led Leona on the journey of years.

For several years Leona’s palette reduced dramatically to explore a very limited palette of black, white and shades of grey. Subsequently, she moved from canvas to paper and explored sumi ink painting techniques simultaneously applying these images both to canvas and then later to printmaking plates creating carborundum collagraph and drypoint prints lending depth to much loved Western Canadian landscapes crafted in an interpretative Asian ink painting style.

2024 brings a new challenge of creating reduction lino prints and gradually adding limited palettes of colour.

Leona's works are in private and corporate collections in North America, China, South America, Norway and Australia.
